Grace age 6
Harugongo
Top Class. Loves singing and is first to the porridge queue. Her mother sells bananas at the roadside; fees are the gap.
Grace started in Baby Class three years ago speaking only Rutooro and now reads simple English sentences to the younger children. She lives with her mother and two brothers a thirty-minute walk from school. Her mother sells bananas at the roadside and pays what she can, but the fees for Primary 1 next year are beyond her. A sponsor would cover fees, a uniform and a place on the meals programme.
