Sports day: four houses, one very muddy tug of war

Sports day is the one day of the year when the whole village comes to school. Parents lined the field from mid-morning, the PTA cooked for everyone, and the head teacher's whistle gave out before lunch.

The four houses competed in sprints, relays, sack races, netball and football, and finished with the tug of war, which was held on the wettest part of the field by popular demand. Yellow House took the overall trophy for the second year running.

Thank you to the volunteers who marked out the track, ran the scoreboard and refereed the under-tens football without losing their sense of humour.
