Planting the school garden with our July volunteers
Deo Asiimwe2 July 20262 min read

The land behind the Primary 3 classroom had been fallow for years. In July a group of visiting volunteers and a dozen parents cleared and dug it over in four days.
We have planted dodo, sukuma wiki, onions and beans. The greens go straight into school lunches. Primary 3 and Primary 4 look after the plots as part of their agriculture lessons and keep records of what each bed produces.
The first harvest fed the whole school for a week.
